2018: The Year of Focus

I know 2018 started 28 days ago, but better late than never for a state of Andrew update.

2017 in Review

2017 was a mixed bag for me personally: while a lot of progress was made on YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram along with the launch of my Soundcloud account, Paw Print Media hit a downward spiral.

Stats were down significantly, and I felt that the brand didn’t have a direction moving forward. If you noticed, I posted significantly fewer posts on Paw Print & GameSentral compared to last year. While school did play a role, part of it was also caused by this lack in direction.

Twitter and Instagram stayed largely flat for me, but I have a lot of fun using both platforms so I don’t expect that to change anytime soon.

YouTube has picked up significant steam however. Views and subscribers nearly doubled compared to last year, and I made over 50 videos in 2017.

While being completely new, Soundcloud is quickly becoming a labor of love for me with Heavy Rotation serving as the flagship show there.

Before I dive into what’s new for 2018, let’s take a quick look back at my goals for 2017:

  • Read 25 books: 6/25
  • Write at least 500 blog posts: 202/500

What’s Next

I’ve been inspired by Kraig Adams‘ videos on minimalism recently, and it’s caused me to reevaluate my brand. Paw Print Media is now Andijack Productions, and it includes Paw Print (now renamed Andijack News), GameSentral, Heavy Rotation, and the Andrew Okwuosah YouTube channel.

All of my personal accounts (Twitter/Instagram/Soundcloud/Facebook/etc.) are now @Andiironda, and have been changed in the header above.

YouTube and Soundcloud will get new episodes of Heavy Rotation every Tuesday, which celebrates the music that brings us together. This new weekly version of the show is inspired heavily by Dj CUTMAN‘s This Week in Chiptune podcast that gave hundreds of internet musicians a platform for their music to be heard for a loyal community.

Also coming to both platforms is a new opinion-based show called for your consideration that will hopefully launch in February. I haven’t worked out all of the details yet, but it will focus on providing solutions to problems that I believe exist in the world.

Here are a few goals I have for this year:

  • Read at least 25 books
  • Write at least 250 blog posts
  • Post at least 75 YouTube videos

Let the year of focus continue!
